Hemagiri Falls

Hemagiri Falls and Hemagiri Hill are a scenic waterfall located in Bandihole village in Krishnarajpet taluk of Mandya district in the state of Karnataka. Hemagiri Falls is a small dam built across the Hemavati River. A 415 meter long dam was built across the Hemavati River in 1880 with the aim of supplying water to the surrounding villages and their farmlands.

This place is about 165 km from Bangalore, 69 km from Mandya and 10 km from Krishnarajpet taluk.

Hemagiri Hill is a small hill surrounded by the Hemavati River, hence the name Hemagiri. The Venkataramana Swamy Temple on the hill is a modern structure, and a legend mentions it as a holy place where Vishnu often visited from his abode Vaikuntha. Every year in the month of January, a chariot festival and a raft festival are held for Lord Venkataramana.

Farmers from different corners of the state visit this place 15 days before the festival begins for the cattle fair held at the Hori Mela, a vast field covering an area of ​​about one and a half square miles. By all aspect, this fair is a special attraction of the district and can be enjoyed just by watching. This place is a place worth visiting.
