Magadikere Bird Conservation Reserve is located in Magadi village of Shirahatti taluk of Gadag district. The sanctuary covers 134 acres of land and has a catchment area of about 900 hectares.

Here the bar-headed goose and magadi are among the birds that migrate to the wetlands. The following bird species can also be seen here, Gray Heron, Purple Heron, Duck, Oriental Ibis, White Breasted Water Hen, Greater Flamingo, Black-winged Stilt, Cattle Egret, Asian Open-billed Stork, Woolly-necked Stork, Colored Stork, Eurasian Spoonbill, Ruddy Shelled Duck or Brahmin duck.
