Shantagiri Fort

Shantagiri Fort is a fort in the Gadag district of Karnataka state. Shantagiri Fort is a kind of village, a fort built on a steep, sloping hill with no proper access at some distance from the village. It is a fort built by Shivaji, which delights those who are into trekking and exploring ancient forts.

The major surviving parts of the fort are, one well and 03 hemispherical roof. If two hemispherical roof are circular and the third is square. The two walls of the main fort, the left and right, are about 85 meters and 117 meters long respectively.

The square hemispherical roof is higher than the fort wall. At the base there is a narrow door and at the top there is a foreboding door to the balcony. The passage is so narrow that only a thin person can enter it. The structure is at least 08 feet high, the upper wall is completely collapsed. A passage on the wall connecting the central tower and the other two hemispherical roof is now incomplete.
