DD Hills (Devarayanadurga)

DD Hills is located in a village called Devarayanadurga in Tumukuru district of Karnataka state. Built in 1696 by the Mahaparakrami Yada Raja of Mysore, Druvatare Raja Chikkadevaraya of Mysore. This fort was built when the entire Tumukuru district was annexed to Mysore province.

DD hill is about 75 km from Bangalore. It is about 17 km from Tumkur city and 18 km from Tumkur railway station.

There is a good road route to Devarayanadurga Hill. Also, there is an old steep road in Durgadahalli village, you can go through the steep road to climb the fort through Durgadahalli. Devarayanadurga Fort is a total of 13 round forts. The first thing you will find is the Penakonda door. There are three temples of Bhoga Narasimha, Yoga Narasimha and Lakshmi Narasimha on three different heights of this hill. Bhoga Narasimha Temple is located at the foot of the hill. Yoganarasimha Temple is located on the top of the hill. The Lakshmi Narasimha temple is found on the first part of the hill.

Bhogalakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple

A temple of Sri Bhoga Lakshminarasimha Swamy is situated in the center of Devarayana Durga facing east. The temple is perfectly constructed with five parts namely Garbhankan, Navaranga, Mukha Mantapa, Prakara and Raja Gopuram.

Sri Lakshminarasimha Swamy in this temple is established and worshiped by Durvasa Maharshi. It is the most brilliant idol. The fact that Sri Narasimha Swami is praised in the Puranas as “Sarvatomukdurwara Tejo Vikramshali” is so meaningful and emotional that the devotees will realize immediately after darshan of this deity. Amma presence is separate in Sri Swami’s temple.

Yoganarasimha Swamy Temple

There is a hill in Devarayana Durga at a height of 4200 feet above sea level. There is a temple of Sri Lakshminarasimha Swami established by Lord Brahma on this hilltop. This god is called Sri Yogalakshminarasimha Swamy. The temple is also perfect with five parts namely Garbhankan, Navaranga, Mukha Mantapa, Prakara and Rajagopura. Sri Swami’s sannidhana is facing North. Amma’s sannidhana is facing east. The distance between the lower hill temple and the upper hill temple is one mile. The upper hill is 500 feet higher than the lower hill.
