Saumyakeshava Temple Nagamangala

Saumyakeshava temple is located in Nagamangala in Mandya district of Karnataka state. Built in stages during the Hoysala and Vijayanagara kings, the temple has a tower, garbhagriha, pradakshina path and patala column (ಪಾತಾಳ ಅಂಕಣ). The spire of this temple is one of the highest spire temples in our state and the tower of this temple was built during the Vijayanagara Empire. The temple is built on a star-shaped planet like the Trikootachala structure in front of which Lord Saumyakeshava is worshiped.

Saumyakeshava Temple is about 120 km from Bangalore. It is about 43 km from Mandya city and only 01 km from Nagamangala.

As the Keshava idol here has a gentle face, the Lord residing there is known as Soumya Keshava. In all other Keshavan temples, the Swami holds a wheel in his right hand and a conch shell in his left hand and gives darshan to the devotees. But here Swami is giving darshan to the devotees along with Sridevi Bhudevi holding a conch shell in his right hand and a wheel in his left hand.
