Kokkare belluru Bird Sanctuary is located in a village called Bellur in Maddur taluk of Mandya district of Karnataka state. Stork is a specialty of Bellur, a rare bird sanctuary in Karnataka where birds live with humans. Kokkare Bellur is also known as the home of storks. Here you can see the amazing blend of nature and birdlife.

Kokkare belluru Bird Sanctuary is about 116 km from Bangalore. It is about 33 km from Mandya city. And Maddur Railway Station is the nearest railway station to Kokkare Bellur Bird Sanctuary.

The local residents are also very concerned about the birds and are protecting them. Similarly, the birds have not only maintained the beauty of the village but also made this small village popular in the entire country. Apart from colored storks, spot-billed pelicans are also found here in large numbers. Both are classified as threatened on the IUCN Red List. This village is one of the 21 bird breeding sites in India.

There is no entry fee to enter Kokkare belluru Bird Sanctuary and there is no specific time to visit this bird sanctuary. Storks come and stay in this village during the winter, hence it is known as Kokkare Bellur. This is not a man-made place for birds, rather it is a village, where special birds like pelican and painted stroke build their nests and continuously build a bird forest.
