Someshwara Temple Lakshmeshwara

Someshwar Temple Lakshmeshwar is an 11th century temple located in Lakshmeshwar taluk of Gadag district of Karnataka state. This temple has three main entrances and the temple complex is surrounded by high walls and looks like a fort. It is a wonderful example of Chalukya architecture.

Someshwar Temple Lakshmeshwar is about 388 km from Bangalore. It is located 40 km away from Gadag city and just 500 meters from Lakshmeshwar. And it is 47 km away from Gadag railway station.

In the center of the temple complex, there is the Someshwara temple, surrounded by many small shrines mainly dedicated to Lord Shiva, along the compound wall, built of granite, some halls in the complex are for resting. is intended.

Along with the traditional structures of the temple, the Someshwar Temple consists of Garbha Griha, Ardha Mantapa or Halfway Hall, Navaranga and Mukha Mantapa or Entrance Gate.

The idols of Nandi and Shiva Parvati in the temple are exquisitely carved. These idols are known as Saurashtra Someshwara, as these idols were brought by a Shiva devotee from Saurashtra and installed at Lakshmeshwar.

Inside the Someshwara temple complex, behind the temple, there is an open step well. This step-well is richly carved and decorated, it has architectural and artistic significance.
