Nandi Betta or Nandi Hills is a hill fort in the Chikkaballapur district of the South Indian state of Karnataka. It is popular as a major tourist destination. The state’s horticulture department operates a handout for tourists.
Nandi hill is about 61 km from Bangalore. It is about 10 km from Chikkaballapur city and 09 km from Chikkaballapur railway station.
The Fort of Tipu Sultan, the summer retreat of the 18th century ruler, features stone carvings and wall paintings. The prisoners are said to have been thrown to their deaths from the Tipu Drop, now famous for its panoramic views. Lee’s Hindu temples include the hilltop Yoga Nandishwara temple, guarded by a colossal statue of the bull (Nandi).
The best way to reach Nandi Hills is by personal vehicle. Alternatively, you can take KSRTC buses from Bangalore Bus Stand and reach Nandi Hills within 2-3 hours from Bangalore City.
