History of Namada Chilume
There is a local legend that Rama, Lakshmana and Sita took refuge in this Devarayanadurga forest during the Ramayana. Once there was an opportunity to put Tilak on Rama’s forehead. Then Sita looked around for water but could not find it anywhere. Then Rama shot an arrow at that place and left it on a rock, the arrow pierced a hole and water gushed out there. It is believed that Rama took that water and applied tilak on his forehead, so this place got its name as Namada Chilume.
