Moole Shankareswara Temple

Moole Shankareswara Temple is an amazing temple located in Thuruvekere in Mandya district of Karnataka state. This temple is an Ishwara temple. The temple is built in Bhoomija style. It was built during the reign of King Narasimha 3rd of the Hoysalas. This temple is one of the most unique temples in Karnataka. It is also one of the two Bhumija style temples in Karnataka. Another temple is the Sadasiva Temple at Nuggehalli.

Moole Shankareswara Temple is 124 kilometers from Bangalore and 70 kilometers from Tumkur city. And it is 02 KM from Thuruvekere city and 12 KM from Banasandra railway station.

The temple has a total of 64 corners and is believed to have been built by the sculptor Jakanacharya. The temple has a temple facing east and an entrance gate facing south. Historically speaking about the construction of the temple, the historical temple in this town is Chennakesava Temple, according to one of its inscriptions, there is information that this temple was built around 1258.
