Omkareshwar Temple Kodagu

Nestled in the Western Ghats of Karnataka, Coorg also known as Kodagu is a breathtaking hill station that offers more than scenic beauty to its tourists. One such example is the Omkareshwar Temple, one of the popular sightseeing spots in Coorg.

This temple is about 265 km from Bangalore and 1 km from Madikeri city. Madikeri is 118 km from Mysore and 138 km from Mangalore.

Omkareshwar temple timings are from 6.30 AM to 12 PM, again opening at 5 PM and closing at 8 PM.

The Omkareshwara Temple in Madikeri was built in 1820 by King Lingarajendra II, presenting an interesting architecture that attracts not only the devotees but also everyone. Consisting of a central dome, the temple is built in the Muhammadan style of architecture. Its unique blend of Gothic and Islamic architecture is worth exploring. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Its four corners are surrounded by four towers. Linga is installed near the entrance of the temple. Another attractive architectural feature of the temple is the water tank in front, inhabited by various types of fish.
