Nagarahole National Park is a park that falls under the Kodagu district and Mysore district of Karnataka. The park is located at a distance of 53 km from Kodagu, 60 km from Mysore and 228.8 km from Bangalore.
The park was declared in 1999 as the Thirty Seventh Project Tiger Reserve Forest Area as part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve. 6000 km 02 The Nilgiri sub-cluster (2300 sq mi) of the Western Ghats, including Nagarhole National Park, is under consideration by the UNESCO World Heritage Committee for selection as a World Heritage Site. Widespread in Mysore and Kodagu districts, these forests are home to the most unique biodiversity in Karnataka, India and the entire world.
Nagarahole National Park is one of the most beautiful and dense forests in Karnataka. This forest is resplendent with hills, hills, valleys and precious trees like teak, sandalwood, beet, silver oak etc. These forests are supporting many animal, bird and plant species which are on the verge of extinction.
India’s national animal, the tiger, and its national bird, the peacock, are safe here. Spread over an area of 511 sq km, this forest is home to deer, wild sheep, bear, leopard, elephant, wildebeest, otter, crocodile, python, woodpecker, great Indian hornbill, hawk, eagle, dage, pangolin, flying squirrel. It is also home to honey herders, hill herders and birdwatchers.
