Chiklihole Reservoir is built across the Chiklihole River which flows through the Kaveri basin in Karnataka. It was built in 1985 for irrigation purpose to nearby villages. The reservoir is used to meet the water demand of an area of 865 hectares. The dam is 464.8 m long and 25.3 m high and has a total storage capacity of 5.097 mcm.
This reservoir is about 240 km from Bangalore. It is 103 km from Mysore and 25 km from Madikeri. It is located in Attur village, about 14 km from the heart of Kushalanagar taluk.
The unique shape of Chiklihole Dam is a great attraction for tourists. The dam has a semi-circular structure without any crest gate. With the rise of the inlet, the water gushes over the curved structure like foam and offers a breathtaking sight to the visitors.
